16 Sep Healthy Shanghai: Online Supermarkets
Grocery shopping in most metropolises can be a hassle, let alone a city with 24 million people. Transportation, weather conditions, and time are just a few of the inevitable inconveniences of picking up groceries in the city. As an expat living in Shanghai finding ingredients you trust and are familiar with is hard to come by. While there are places where you can purchase imported goods, like CitySuper or even the legendary Avocado Lady, many stores will have low inventory so by the time you are off work and headed to the market, half the items you wanted are sold out. Then there is the issue of hauling the bags around on public transportation till you get home; only to find the frozen food you purchased has defrosted.
In a city with an ever-growing expat population, imported good are of high demand. Luckily there is a myriad of online delivery services to choose from. These stores have an array of imported products, from Australian Wagyu steaks and organic vegetables, to imported beers and wine. Some even offer home goods and pet food. Many of them will do same day delivery and most delivery with temperature controlled vehicles so your food does not spoil. These are just a few delivery options available in Shanghai.
