Consulting History

  1. Developing the Network

    Maxxelli Real-estate is established as a Destination Services Provider (DSP) to assist foreign companies relocating overseas staff to various Chinese cities. Almost from the start, satisfied clients request more consulting services from Maxxelli. From site-selection to company set-up to restaurant expansion we supported many clients and friends on an ad-hoc basis, gaining valuable knowledge and experience along the way.

  2. A New Division

    Maxxelli Consulting is officially launched in Chengdu, separate from the DSP Team. Our extensive knowledge of second-tier China sets us apart in the China business consulting field. And thus our main mandate; to support overseas companies as well as foreign companies already established in Shanghai and other first-tier cities to expand into second-tier China.

  3. Taking the Initiative

    This year saw a number of new projects, ranging from helping clients design China marketing plans to importing several luxury European brands into China. We supported local Chinese developers to internationalize their properties and took on a project selling London properties to Chinese investors. Maxxelli Consulting was rolling and expanded operations to Chongqing.

  4. Market Research Prowess

    This year we were hired by a famous American tech firm to create a report on international schools in China; a 250 page report covering 20 cities. This led to a continuing relationship for which we have developed more comprehensive city reports. We also conducted several market research projects for residential developments in Chengdu and Chongqing.

  5. Diversity in Projects

    We continued providing our consulting services to various residential projects in Western China as well as began assisting the launch of several foreign brands here.
    One major project was our market report and china-wide business plan for the European ice-cream brand Glacio. This successful consulting project led to a deeper cooperation between our two companies as we became Glacio’s distributor for Southwest China.

  6. Go-to Consultants

    Having established our brand in Southwest China, Maxxelli Consulting continues to build its reputation further afield through various China market reports and knowledge sharing.
    In 2015 we launched The China International City Index which is now in its 4th edition. Through in-person presentations in such cities as Shanghai, Hong Kong, Singapore, Chicago, Vancouver, and Amsterdam as well as Webinars for people in other locations Maxxelli Consulting continues to present its expertise on 2nd-tier China to an ever-growing international audience.

A snapshot of success in 2nd tier China

Market Research

Maxxelli has completed numerous market research projects in China for various industries including mobility, real-estate, F&B, and product importing.

In 2015, Maxxelli was commissioned by a famous American tech firm to complete an International Schools Report covering 20 Chinese cities. The result was a 250-page extensive report on every international school in China; from tuition to enrollment, from curriculums to special needs programs.

Today Maxxelli continues to support this client with annually updated city reports covering 15 Chinese cities to where they regularly locate new staff.

Who wants Ice Cream?!

Maxxelli Consulting supported Glacio, a Belgian Ice Cream brand with their initial China market research in 2015. As Maxxelli dug into the industry and became close with our partner, a decision was made to take a bigger stake in the project.

Today, Maxxelli is the distributor for Glacio in Southwest China. Consulting is the first step, but if an opportunity presents itself and the fit is right, Maxxelli is happy to play an ongoing role in our client’s business development in China.

Residential Knowledge

Maxxelli has been a key player in the Residential Leasing market in 2nd tier China since 2004. The data we have on high-end residential leasing markets in many Chinese cities is unmatched.
Local and international developers come to Maxxelli for residential market data and trends on a city level. Looking at 10 year trends within each city allows developers, serviced-apartment operators and real-estate investors to make knowledgeable decisions.
Maxxelli has written numerous market reports for both international and local developers in Southwest and Central China.

Business Establishment

Maxxelli’s network leads to opportunities. In 2006 a Dutch entrepreneur looking to open his first F&B retail business in Chengdu reached out to Maxxelli.
We took the project from initial market research, to site selection, through WFOE (wholly-foreign owned enterprise) setup, to recruitment, to shop design & construction, and right through to marketing material & social media design. The client utilized Maxxelli Exxperience to kick start their business – from start to finish.

China International City Index

Maxxelli’s CICI project was first launched in 2015 with just 6 cities. The 2018 edition has grown to be a comparison of 29 cities across 47 key indicators. These indicators are essential to analyzing the development of a city’s internationalization.
The value of the CICI report has not gone unnoticed. External firms are now coming to Maxxelli for the creation of their own CICI-like reports tailored to their industry. The premise behind such tailored reports is the same, comparing key indicators from multiple Chinese cities in order to assist the client with making educated decisions about their business development in China.
